Direct route between Esbjerg and Stavanger has reopened

Esbjerg Airport and LYGG have reopened the direct flight route between Esbjerg and Stavanger. The first flight took place on Monday, 5 October.

Esbjerg Airport and LYGG have reopened the direct flight route between Esbjerg and Stavanger. The first flight took place on Monday, 5 October. Going forward, the route will operate every Monday and Thursday. This once again gives business travellers easier access to customers, colleagues and partners across the North Sea.

The route opening was marked at Esbjerg Airport with the participation of, among others, members of Esbjerg Municipality’s Climate and Business Committee and the Esbjerg City Council, as well as representatives from local companies.

– We are very pleased that the route is now up and running. Companies on both sides have been asking for it, and now the two important business regions around the North Sea are directly connected again, says Roope Kekäläinen, founder and CEO of LYGG.

At Esbjerg Airport, acting airport manager Allan Dahl Leiberg sees the reopening as a strengthening of the close cooperation between the two cities.

– We have had close cooperation with Stavanger for many years, both between the cities and between the companies, especially within the offshore and energy sectors. We are therefore very pleased that the direct route is back. I hope the business community will welcome it and use it, so that together we can keep the connection going, he says.

More connections around the North Sea

Stavanger is one of several destinations that Esbjerg Airport and LYGG connect in a regional route network. The route to Groningen in the Netherlands opened in August, and on 13 October a new route to Emden in Germany follows.

Together, the connections are intended to make it easier and faster for companies in the energy, offshore and maritime sectors to travel between the cities around the North Sea.
