Esbjerg Airport, a regional airport serving the Southwest Jutland area, is the base for helicopter flights to oil and gas installations in the North Sea. In addition, Esbjerg Airport offers daily scheduled connections to Aberdeen and Stavanger.

Location and Infrastructure

We make it easy for you to start or end your journey at Esbjerg Airport – whether you are travelling as a tourist, on business, or offshore.

Esbjerg Airport is located right next to the E20 motorway, just 10 minutes from Esbjerg Harbour, 20 minutes from stunning natural attractions such as the Wadden Sea, and 15 minutes from Esbjerg city centre.

We offer 700 parking spaces directly in front of the main entrance, so you won’t need to allow extra time in your travel plans to find a spot.

If you need to continue your journey independently, our four car rental companies are ready to assist you. The rental parking area is located just 10 metres from the arrivals and departures hall.

Esbjerg Airport is actively committed to the green transition.

That is why we have implemented the following initiatives:

International Partnerships

We have entered into a partnership with six other offshore airports as part of the NSHA association.

The purpose is, among other things, to develop sustainable aviation across the member airports.

This is achieved by establishing procedures to ensure that airport operations become CO2 neutral.

In addition, the development of sustainable scheduled flights and helicopter operations will be given higher priority.

Green Aviation

Green Fuel
Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 75% and is currently one of the most effective ways to make aviation more sustainable.

Sustainable aviation fuel is a clean replacement for fossil fuel and is produced from sustainable resources such as used cooking oil. This means the fuel burns cleaner and reduces emissions.

New Aircraft
In addition to using sustainable aviation fuel, investing in new, more fuel-efficient aircraft is one of the best ways to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable aviation industry.

Electric Power for Aircraft
We also plan to generate our own electricity through solar parks. The stored power will be used for aircraft operating from Esbjerg Airport.

Servicing of Offshore Wind Farms

The offshore wind farms in the North Sea are set to expand.

This was established in the Esbjerg Declaration, signed in Esbjerg by four European heads of state in 2022.

The goal is for Germany, Denmark, Belgium, and the Netherlands to deliver at least 65 GW of offshore wind power by 2030 and to increase capacity to at least 150 GW by 2050. The ambition is for these countries to provide half of the EU’s required offshore wind power by 2050 to achieve its climate neutrality target.

Going forward, we will service the offshore wind farms in the North Sea by transporting personnel and cargo. In the same way, we will become an important facilitator for future Power-to-X projects.

In doing so, we will contribute to economic growth and development regionally, nationally, and internationally.

carbon neutral airport

We aim to become a carbon-neutral airport by 2030 – an agreement we have entered into with Esbjerg Municipality.

We are continuously working on developing initiatives to reach this goal.

Solar Panels
With Esbjerg Airport’s solar panel installation, we have taken a major step towards sustainability.
The solar array generates 98% of the airport’s total electricity consumption.

Wastewater Recycling Project
We have initiated a wastewater recycling project aimed at reusing the airport’s wastewater.

Sustainable Buildings and Energy Improvements
We construct new extensions using sustainable materials and continuously improve the energy efficiency of existing buildings.

LED Lighting
We are replacing existing bulbs with LED lighting throughout the airport. LEDs require significantly less energy per light source and have a longer lifespan.
