Customs
As a traveler, you are responsible for keeping yourself informed about customs regulations. This applies to both departure and arrival.
Please note: As of 1 July 2025, the Customs Office will relocate to the Port of Esbjerg.
Pay extra attention if you:
Travel with firearms: Hunters, for example, traveling to Aberdeen must now visit Customs at the Port of Esbjerg and have their firearm cleared before check-in.

Do you need temporary registration plates?
Issuance of temporary registration plates for cars, motorcycles, caravans, trailers, etc., is now handled exclusively by the Danish Motor Vehicle Agency (Motorstyrelsen). Find information here.
If you are traveling to a country outside the EU, you have the option to purchase tobacco products and spirits duty-free. On the Danish Tax Agency’s website, you can see how much you are allowed to bring back to Denmark at the end of your trip.
If you are flying to Stavanger, you can visit the Norwegian Customs Directorate’s website to see how much tobacco, wine, spirits, and other goods you are allowed to bring into Norway.
If you are flying to Aberdeen, you can visit gov.uk to see how much tobacco, wine, spirits, and other goods you are allowed to bring into the United Kingdom.
If you are bringing firearms into or out of the country, for example for hunting trips, you must apply for permission. This can be done on the Danish Police website, where you can also find more information about permits for ammunition, renewing firearm passports, and more.
