Passenger rights

In February 2005, new rules in EU Regulation 261/2004 on air passenger rights came into effect. This resulted, among other things, in greater financial compensation to passengers affected by delay, cancellation or overbooking.

To be covered by the regulation, the flights have either departure airport within the EU or destination airport within the EU. If the departure airport located outside the EU and the airport lies within the EU, and the airline does not belong to an EU country, it does not apply.

The EU Regulation applies to both scheduled, and charter flights.

The regulation states that air passengers have certain rights in case of denied boarding, cancellation of flights and long delays. If you think that your rights are not met, you can complain to the Public Transport Authority.
